Description
First, I would like to point out that this is the only fanart that I will be putting up from the novel "Interview with the Vampire." Second, please keep comments to the image only. It's not that I do not appreciate feedback, I simply have not read any of the other books by Anne Rice, nor do I plan to do so. My only interest in choosing to pick up IwV was to better understand the movie. Preferably, I would recommend reading the book instead.BEHIND THE IMAGE: With that being out of the way, I would like to present my own interpretations of the characters Louis and Lestat. In the attempt to capture what I saw while reading the book, I tried stay as far away from any actor influences as far as the drawing itself is concerned. The movie really didn't do them justice at all, in my opinion, as there is a lot more to their characters than the film first lead me to believe.
ABOUT THE IMAGE: My idea was to try to get the feel of a vintage photograph. I had also experimented with some new (and lengthy) techniques in removing the usual "gray" look to my lines to achieve the coloured line-effects seen in animated films. The background is inspired by stock photography I found here on oibryd-stock.deviantART
However, I will also point out that the setting is NOT a paint over, nor a modification of the photograph. Painting backgrounds is a real pain and I did not spend my hard work on a photo-manipulation for a quick and cheap background.
